Editorial Policy
BrewGearCalc publishes researched guidance built on published specifications and formulas. It does not publish fabricated testing claims, invented figures, or recommendations it cannot source.
What we will not do
- Claim testing we did not do. No page here says we tested, measured or used a product in person, because we did not.
- Invent a figure. If a number is not available from a published source or a manufacturer, the page says what it depends on instead of supplying an estimate dressed as a fact.
- Blur standards and conventions. A published equation and a shop habit are different kinds of claim and are labelled differently throughout.
- Let an affiliate link change a recommendation. Every product here earns a commission, which is precisely why the pages also tell you what to skip and who should not buy the expensive option.
Safety guidance
Some of what brewing involves can genuinely hurt you, and those warnings are treated as accuracy rather than as legal boilerplate. Sealed fermenters without working pressure relief can burst. Bottles burst when over-primed or bottled before fermentation finished. CO2 cylinders are high pressure vessels. Alkaline cleaners burn skin and eyes and must never be mixed with acid sanitisers. Propane burners produce carbon monoxide and belong outdoors only.
Those appear where they are relevant and in the reader specific terms that make them useful, rather than as a generic notice at the foot of every page.
